1. BOOK SALE NEWS

Payments for sellers have now been processed and cheques are available for collection. Please come to the LSS Office from 10-4 Monday to Thursday with your Monash Student ID Card to pick up your cheque.

Books that did not sell will be available are available for collection:

Wednesday: 12-4 pm

Thursday: 2-3 pm

These times will be for week 10.  If books are not collected by the end of week 10 they will be forfeited to the Monash Law Students’ Society.

2. 'BRINGING VIOLENCE OUT OF THE DARK: A TWILIGHT EVENING FOR THE ERADICATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES.'

Date: Tuesday the 18th May

Time: 5.30 p.m.- 8.30 p.m.

Location: Airport Lounge, Second Floor, Campus Centre (Building Ten)

The Social Justice and Equity Team is pleased to present ‘Bringing Violence Out of the Dark: A twilight evening dedicated to the eradication of human rights abuses. ‘  Come along to the Airport Lounge (Campus Centre) on Tuesday the 18th of May at 5.30pm to hear the personal narratives of those who have been affected by these human rights abuses. With speaker Kristy Hill (Child Wise) and Manita Ray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre).

There will also be live performances by the New Romans, the Rock and Roll Space Bandits, Creatures of Karma and Danny Robert Baksh and Friends, making it an evening of quality entertainment. And entry is FREE! In addition to this, there will be international food dishes catered by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and, of course, a good old-fashioned BBQ. We will also be selling ‘welcome packs’, which will contain information on what can be done to help asylum seekers, food vouchers for the night and a host of other surprise goodies (The Body Shop freebies)! These packs can be purchased in advance from the LSS Office; stocks are strictly limited so be sure to get yours ASAP.

grass-roots organisations promote social justice?

Be involved in learning about this, as well as participating in the making of a policy submission.

This exciting new initiative is brought to you by the LSS Social

Justice and Equity Portfolio and will run for the duration of Semester Two.
