Disability and Wellbeing


Studying law can at times be overwhelming and stressful, and so looking after your health and wellbeing as a law student is very important. We offer a range of resources, seminars and social activities designed to assist in improving the overall health and wellbeing of law students. Here’s a taste of what’s in store this year.

Wellbeing Resources

The LLB Disability and Wellbeing Portfolio has teamed up with Monash Thrive to bring you some helpful resources which shed some light on some commonly faced law student health and wellbeing issues.


Monash Thrive is a new initiative that brings together students and researchers who are passionate about promoting and sustaining student mental health and wellbeing. They co-design and create all their digital resources like their websites with their student team and have worked alongside student groups like us to adapt to the needs of different student cohorts like Law students.

Morning Teas

Be sure to stop by the Law Kitchen on the ground floor of the Law building for our morning teas held twice a semester. They’re a great opportunity to unwind, make new friends and learn about Monash Law over a cuppa and a cookie!

Wellness Wednesdays

A true break from the hustle of law, this is a once-a-semester event not to miss. Join us in the Law Kitchen and enjoy some tasty, nutritious snacks and Boost Juice. Students can unwind, do mindfulness colouring, meditate or watch a sitcom!

LSS Therapy Dogs - Boof & Kaz

Every Thursday 12pm you’ll likely find two friendly fluffs walking around the law building – they’re Boof and Kaz, the Monash LSS therapy dogs. Their weekly visits aim to brighten your afternoons studying in the lawbry, with cuddles and pets galore!

Disability and Mental Health in the Law - A Networking Night

This event will encourage students to network with likeminded individuals, and current professionals, allowing for genuine and open conversations to be held regarding disability and mental health in the law.

Study Snack Stand

Is it really exam season without the snack stand in the Law Kitchen? In Week 12 of both semesters, the LSS will provide students with a variety of energy-boosting snacks in the Law Kitchen.

Students that identify as living with a disability, chronic illness or other impairment are able to access various forms of support through the Monash Disability Support Services (DSS). These services can significantly aid students in the completion of their law degree, and include note-taking tips and tricks for lectures, flexible assignment deadlines and alternative arrangements for exams.
