Welcome to the first event of the Monash Law School calendar! Intro Night provides a comfortable and fun environment for incoming first years to meet each other for the first time, even before camp and O-Week. Preceded by dinner with groups and mentors, all first years are welcome to come along to enjoy a drink, a bite to eat, meet the cohort and Committee and have a great night together!
In conjunction with the Law Faculty, the Monday of O Week (25th of February 2019) is the perfect way for new students to get accustomed to campus life. First years will hear about the law school essentials and enjoy an O Day Festival and BBQ especially organised for them. There will also be plenty of opportunities to explore what the broader uni community has to offer, so be sure to shake the Law Camp hangover and make your way down!
Study Skills Sessions
Where would Monash law students be without their trusty Law Library ('Lawbry')? The Law Library team have invited us back again to assist them with running the Study Skills Sessions first years need to kickstart their study habits in first year. There are multiple hour-long sessions available to book into where members of the mentoring team sit down with a group of first years and chat course tips, exam preparation and generally introduce the different mode of study required in law school.
Throughout the first few weeks of Semester 1, PMP organises a series of activities and events, on-campus and during the uni day. These events make it easier for mentors and mentees to gather and continue getting to know each other, and provide an opportunity for mentees to seek any advice or guidance for upcoming law school milestones. Details TBC - stay tuned!
In the final weeks of Semester 1, the mentor/mentee groupings fly from the metaphorical PMP nest. Groups continue to meet weekly, now at the discretion and availability of mentors and mentees. Our hope is that this facilitates a more tailored and personal mentoring experience, which is fundamental for establishing an ongoing relationship and friendship.
